Job description

The research group on Innovation, Knowledge and Economic dynamics at Aalborg University Business School(AAUBS), also known as the IKE Group, has a history spanning over 40 years in innovation and entrepreneurship research. We are acknowledged contributors to the global industrial dynamics research community. We are currently seeking an Assistant Professor or Associate Professor to contribute to the ongoing development of research and teaching in this dynamic and evolving research field.

We are seeking applicants with an ambitious research agenda within the field of Innovation and Entrepreneurship and solid educational skills in economics and business economics.

As a member of the IKE Research Group, you will join a supportive community dedicated to producing internationally recognised research. You are expected to engage actively in joint IKE-activities. The group’s primary focus is on industrial dynamics, encompassing innovation and industrial transformation, regional innovation systems, entrepreneurship, technological changes, sustainability and green transition, as well as the emergence and implications of new technologies.

The group’s research is based on diverse research methods, spanning from quantitative methods on register, survey, and patent data, to various qualitative methods; also emphasizing the interplay between qualitative and quantitative methods and data. There is a growing focus on novel computational methods such as NLP, machine learning, and AI within the group.

The members of the IKE Group contribute to teaching in industrial dynamics, innovation, entrepreneurship, and related fields at AAUBS, as well as teaching in basic and core disciplines in economics, business economics and(primarily quantitative) research methods at the bachelor, master and executive programmes offered by Aalborg University Business School. You are expected to teach at both undergraduate and master's level. Teaching obligations include supervision, lectures and to a lesser extent coordination and administrative tasks in relation to teaching. You are expected to deliver high quality teaching on all these levels.

Applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Applicants must have a proven track record of engaging in teaching or mentoring activities related to economics, innovation, or entrepreneurship, with a strong inclination towards supervising student projects. Experience in designing and delivering coursework or workshops that bridge theoretical concepts with practical application is highly valued.
  •  Applications must have relevant publications in recognized peer reviewed journals(please notice that expectations are less strict for applicants for an Assistant Professorship– please see below). Prioritised academic journals for the IKE Group include Research Policy, Industrial and Corporate Change, Regional Studies, Small Business Economics, Industry and Innovation, Technovation, Journal of Business Venturing, and Strategic Entrepreneurship Journal. These journals are high-level journals, and we do not necessarily expect applicants to have publications at this level yet, but we do expect that applicants have the potential to and interest in pursuing publication in these or equivalent journals.

While the main working language at AAUBS is English, teaching programs at undergraduate level are mainly taught in Danish. Knowledge of Danish or another Scandinavian language is therefore an advantage. Alternatively, the candidate should be willing to learn basic Danish skills within the first two years of employment.
