Assistant professor in Organizational and Interorganizational Learning
Job description
For appointment as an assistant professor, the ideal candidate is expected to:
- Teach, supervise, and examine students in relevant modules in bachelor's and master's degree programmes at the Department of Culture& Learning, specifically within organizational and interorganizational learning. Furthermore, the assistant professor will be involved in formal continuing education in the form of our master’s programs aimed at primarily managers and consultants.
- Conduct research and publish research products at a high-quality level in recognised venues and channels.
- Participate in external research networks and partnerships, and in doing so create and maintain productive relationships with researchers of different research and cultural backgrounds.
- Engage in knowledge collaboration related to the position's scientific portfolio.
- Contribute in a positive and constructive manner to the overall activities and working environment of the Department of Culture and Learning, and in the research group Collaborative Organizational Learning(CO-LEARN).
In relation to research, the position includes research at an international level within organizational and interorganizational learning. Applicants are expected to have research experience within three or more of the following areas:
- experience, competences and achievements demonstrating the ability to deliver high-quality research.
- a research plan that harmonizes with the Department of Culture and Learning’s strategy and shows the applicant's plans for developing new research products and projects within the fields of organizational and interorganizational learning in the research group Collaborative Organizational Learning(CO-LEARN).
- Applicants are expected to have research experience within three or more of the following areas:
- Research in organizational and interorganizational learning in public, private, and non-profit organizations.
- Research in relation to different interorganizational types of collaboration and learning.
- Research in relation to organizational and interorganizational co-production and co-creation.
- Research experience with broader approaches to qualitative studies(such as narrative inquiry).
- Research experience with quantitative methods.
In relation to teaching, the applicant is expected to document:
- Experience, competences, and achievements demonstrating the ability to provide high-level instruction within the area of the organizational and interorganizational learning processes as well as qualitative and quantitative methods, with various pedagogical considerations and approaches, including supervision, conducting seminars, lectures etc.
- At Aalborg University our learning approach is problem-based learning(PBL). Documented experience with this learning approach is therefore preferred but is not a prerequisite.
The applicant is expected to document the ability to teach, supervise and assess both written and oral presentations in Danish. Alternatively, the ideal applicant is expected to acquire relevant linguistic competence within an agreed timeframe.
The position is primarily affiliated with the research group Collaborative Organizational Learning(CO-LEARN) that has a range of research interests within the following main areas(see also

- Organizations undergoing transitions, changes, innovations, improvements, and evaluations.
- Organizational learning and organizational development
- Co-creation and co-production in organizations
- Collaborative and learning-oriented research approaches like action research, co-evaluation, design-based research, and other participatory methods
- Organizations in relation to significant societal agendas, such as sustainability, well-being at work, children's and youths’ well-being from early childhood to higher education, social and global inequality, and other complex issues
In terms of personal qualities, the applicant is expected to have solid cooperative abilities as well as the ability to create and maintain productive relationships with researchers of various research and cultural backgrounds. A national as well as an international network is preferred.
Daily attendance at the department is required. In addition, applicants should be prepared to actively participate in all aspects of the day-to-day activities of the department and study programmes. A position as assistant professor is a fixed-term training position which includes an obligation to carry out research and teaching activities. To a limited extent, additional tasks may be defined by the University. The appointment includes a requirement to attend a course in university pedagogy for assistant professors organised by the University.
The employment as assistant professor must not exceed a total period of four years at the same institution(a maximum of six years at assistant professor level at AAU and a maximum of eight years at assistant professor level in Denmark).
Qualification requirements
Applicants for the assistant professorship are required to possess academic qualifications; for example a PhD degree or similar academic qualifications.

Assessment
The assessment of candidates for the position will be carried out by qualified experts.
Shortlisting will be applied. This means that after the application deadline, the head of the department, with the assistance of the hiring committee, will select the applicants to be assessed. All applicants will be informed whether they have been shortlisted for assessment or not.
When the hiring process is completed, a final rejection will be sent to the applicants who are not considered for the position.
